*This timeline was developed earlier this year. We are currently in the process of contacting council members and attending public meetings. This timeline is flexible, and if you are interested in any phase of this project, you are still more than welcome to do so!*

We have conducted outreach with varying levels of success to the following communities:
Lake County, Porter County, LaPorte County, Hobart, Highland, Munster, East Chicago, Hammond, Crown Point, Valparaiso, Portage

  1. Start organizing your group. Encourage students, teachers, parents to join you.

  2. Identify a person on the council to contact. (ideally, the one most likely to agree to this project).

  3. Contact councilperson ASAPĀ and schedule an in-person meeting (if isolation is still an issue, a virtual meeting can take place).

  4. Review talking points, decide who will meet with the councilperson, and put pressure on the council.

  5. Meet councilperson ASAP.

  6. Have a group presence at the public meetings in which the council discusses participation in the Resilience Cohort. Be certain to attend the meeting where a vote is taken on the matter.

  7. Request a letter of support from the council to participate in the application process ASAP.

  8. Complete the application process by the deadline, which is December.
